I sent this message to most everyone, but incase I don't have your email address and you heard about our Baby Sierra.
Family and Friends,
Just a quick background and update on Sierra. Sunday morning I took Sierra to the Dr. who sent me to the Hospital. She had a temperature of 100.9. They took lots of blood which was hard to do and she was poked and bleed about 10 different times that day. Plus had some I.V. attempts. The blood showed that Bacteria was growing in it. On Monday they found that the Virus Strep A was in her as well. Which is very uncommon in Young children especially infants. We believe she got it from contact with Jaden when she came home from the Hospital as he had strep throat and we did not treat it for a few days not knowing he had it. Anyhow. We kept thinking we would get to come home. But they would find another virus, her work showed she had anemia as well. They started her on antibiotics which is causing Diarrhea. They decided she needed a PICC line which is basically a long term I.V. She fasted all day on Wed. to have the procedure done because should be getting anesthesia. However they couldn't find a good enough vein. Which was no surprise seeing as they had poked her a bunch more times and were now on her second I.V. They would have put it in her head, but she had way too much hair. So Wed. they don't put the PICC in and she gets to eat 2 more times, and then fast all Thursday. They release us from Primary Children's unit in Riverton Hospital (not even 2 yrs. old, very nice place) and send us to the main campus in Salt Lake City. WE have a big blowout here as well. There we wait for a long time and her 1pm appointment gets pushed back to 3pm. Ugh. But she is a good sport through everything. She got her line and we were back home by 6pm and had the nurse come and show us how to work everything. This morning another nurse came out and changed her bandages and reviewed the things that I would need to be doing for the next 2 weeks. Yikes, kind of scary what I need to do. So she has a machine that we Carry in a bag that is constantly giving her medicine. The worst part of this all is the Diarrhea. Its bad. Holly was visiting today and Sierra had a blowout. Luckily Holly was still here that she was able to help me by holding one end of the line to keep it sterile while I disconnect things and redressed her. Every time she has a blowout we have to shut everything off and keep everything sterile and try to change her. Otherwise they do not want me to change her. So every three days when I change all the tubing I will be able to change her. I have to find a way to give her a bath, she is in desperate need. So in short we are back home and doing well, this should all be over hopefully in a few more weeks. Sierra weighed in today at 11.8 lbs. She is 7 1/2 weeks old. Jackson is doing pretty good with Potty training, at least with going number 1. We just have to say its time to go, not ask if he needs to go.
Craig will not continue with CES at this time do to so many disruptions with our life. So his Student teaching will be done this Thursday. He is relieved and looking forward to finishing up his Bachelors by March.
We were sad to hear that Jill's baby was having some problems. WE are not clear on what, but we are thinking of you.
Love the Parry's
She is such a cute baby. All the nurses loved her hair and personality. People would just stop in to see this baby that was the talk of the 4th flr. made me feel good.
